Complex Medical Help Program

Children with Medical Handicaps

Lorain County Public Health (LCPH) participates in the Complex Medical Help (CMH) program. LCPH nurses help parents and guardians of children with health care needs get family-centered, community-based services. The Ohio Department of Health leads this tax-supported program.

CMH serves:

  • Children under the age of 23
  • U.S. citizens
  • Ohio residents
  • Children with medical concerns
  • Families who meet financial eligibility 

Services may include:

  • Early identification/referral of a child with a medical concern
  • Biopsies, X-rays, laboratory tests, special tests, and prescriptions
  • Referrals, consults, and office visits to CMH approved physicians
  • Public Health Registered Nurse services
  • Psychological evaluations for children
