Starting October 1: WIC relocates their Lorain Clinic to 2001 Cooper Foster Park Road

Lorain County Public Health (LCPH) announces that starting Oct. 1, 2024, the Lorain County Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program will begin serving clients at its new location, 2001 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. This new and improved facility will replace the current Lorain Clinic Site, offering enhanced services and amenities to WIC participants. 

The new location has been carefully selected to better serve the community and provide enhanced services to WIC participants. With improved accessibility, ample parking, and a more spacious environment, the new site aims to create a welcoming and convenient space for families in need of WIC services. 

"The relocation of the Lorain County WIC Lorain Clinic to 2001 Cooper Foster Park Road in Amherst is a positive step towards making sure moms, babies and children get the best possible nutrition,” says Mark Adams, MPH, RHES, health commissioner of LCPH. “This new facility will allow us to continue our commitment to serve and support Lorain County. We look forward to providing even more effective services in this improved setting."

“We’re excited that the new clinic site is near three grocery stores that accept WIC vouchers. This will make it easier for clients to access nutritious foods to give their families a healthy start,” said Marissa Wayner, MPH, CHES, CLC, director of Lorain County WIC. 

WIC is a federal program that provides essential nutrition education, healthy food, breastfeeding support, connections to community resources, and support to pregnant people, up to six months postpartum and up to age five. 

Lorain County WIC is operated through and staffed by LCPH. This relocation reflects LCPH’s dedication to enhancing services and reaching more families in need. Lorain County WIC services are available at two sites: 9880 Murray Ridge Road, Elyria, and 2001 Cooper Foster Park Road, Amherst. Both locations can be accessed using Via Lorain County.
